What Is Arm Lift Surgery?
The goal of arm lift surgery is to restore the shape and firmness of the upper arms by removing sagging tissue and excess skin and fat to improve the overall appearance of the arms. Patients who might be interested in arm lift surgery are those who have upper arm skin that sags or causes irritation. Typically, arm lift surgery requires an incision on the inner part of the upper arm. Some patients may only need a smaller incision in the armpit and down the upper arm a few inches. During your consultation, your surgeon will address your concerns and determine if arm lift surgery is right for you.
The Aesthetica Difference
At Aesthetica Plastic Surgery, our surgeons bring over 25 years of combined experience and have performed hundreds of arm lift procedures. Arm lift surgery requires a highly skilled and experienced surgeon to remove and reposition excess skin of the upper arms while preserving nerve function and minimizing visible incisions. Our surgeons’ refined artistic eye and extensive expertise in arm lift techniques ensure you can feel confident that your upper arms will be safely restored to a more youthful and contoured appearance.
Journey To Confidence
At your consultation, you will meet with our patient care team to review your medical history as well as your goals for surgery. You will then meet with your surgeon to discuss the details of the procedure, recovery and expectations as well as create a surgical plan to achieve natural, contoured results. Our office staff will provide you with a surgical quote and assist in scheduling a surgery date.
You will have a pre-operative appointment three weeks prior to surgery. At this appointment, you will sign surgical consents, discuss any last minute questions and concerns, get your pre surgery goodie bag and get further pre- and post-surgery instructions. Photos will be taken at this appointment.
You will arrive at our accreditated surgery center about an hour before the procedure will begin. You will meet with our incredible surgical team to get you comfortable in preparation for your upcoming procedure. The procedure typically takes about 4-5 hours after which you will recover in our post surgical recovery room until your caregiver arrives to pick you up.
After surgery, you may notice some bruising, swelling, inflammation and tenderness in the upper arm area. Make sure you are walking frequently, drinking lots of fluids and getting lots of protein to aid in a smooth recovery.
Bruising and swelling will start within 1-3 days. Make sure to take your Bromelain and Arnica to minimize the effects of bruising and swelling. You may feel tightness, tingling, and numbness that should start to subside over the next couple of weeks. Most patients can expect to resume normal activities within 4-6 weeks following surgery. Patients should keep their arms elevated at a 45 degree angle while resting for the first couple weeks. At Aesthetica, your safety and recovery are our top priorities. We provide frequent post-operative visits to monitor your progress closely and ensure optimal healing. Additionally, patients have 24/7 access to an on-call nurse for any urgent concerns or questions that may arise during recovery.
Experience the transformation, notice the difference, and embrace your renewed confidence. Patients will notice immediate results after arm lift surgery with optimal results appearing over the next 6-9 months. The incisions will lighten and fade over time. Most patients feel deeply reassured in their decision to undergo arm lift procedure, knowing they’ve taken an important step toward achieving balance, comfort, and results that reflect their aesthetic goals.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does an arm lift help Salt Lake City patients achieve more defined contours?
An arm lift can help our Salt Lake City and surrounding area patients achieve more defined contours by removing excess skin and reshaping the upper arms for a smoother, firmer appearance. This procedure is often chosen after significant weight loss or as part of the natural aging process to create more balanced body proportions.
How much does an arm lift cost?
Brachioplasty surgery starts at $10,500. This price includes expenses for the operating room, anesthesia, and surgical fees. You will receive a quote for your surgery at your consultation.
What parts of the arm are addressed with an arm lift?
The area of the arm addressed with a brachioplasty, or arm lift surgery, is the upper arm. Typically an incision will run from the armpit to the elbow.
Can I combine an arm lift with other body contouring procedures?
Typically an arm lift surgery is done by itself, however, in some cases, patients may add on breast surgery or liposuction.
Will I have scars after my arm lift surgery?
Incisions are generally placed on the inner, less visible location on the upper arms that will lighten and fade over time as the scar fully matures. We offer scar management products and treatments such as the V-beam or Co2 laser as well as topical gels and silicone sheeting to improve the appearance of the incisions. Most patients find the trade-off of the incisions worth it to have more contoured arms.
How long do you have to be off work for an arm lift surgery?
Most patients are back to sedentary work around 10-14 days after surgery. Patients should refrain from strenous activity for 4-6 weeks.
Do arm lift scars go away?
Once an incision is made there will alway be a scar. There are many things you can do to improve or minimize the appearance of the scar including silicone sheeting, silicone gel, Vbeam laser to treat redness, steroid injections, or CO2 laser to treat scar thickness and more.
