About Cosmetic Breast Reconstruction with Tissue Reinforcement
Cosmetic breast reconstruction with tissue reinforcement is often performed to enhance the durability and aesthetics of breast surgery. This technique involves using materials like acellular dermal matrices (ADMs), synthetic meshes or a tissue matrix to provide additional support to the breast tissue and implants. These reinforcement materials act as scaffolds, promoting tissue integration and offering structural support, which can lead to more natural-looking results and reduce the risk of complications. By incorporating tissue reinforcement into cosmetic breast reconstruction procedures, our surgeons aim to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
The Aesthetica Difference
With over 25 years of combined experience, our plastic surgeons employ advanced techniques and cutting-edge materials to optimize cosmetic breast reconstruction through tissue reinforcement. By integrating state-of-the-art technology with meticulous surgical precision, they enhance breast shape, structural support, and long-term durability. Utilizing biologic tissue matrices and innovative reconstructive methods, they deliver natural, personalized outcomes tailored to each patient’s individual anatomy and goals.
Journey To Confidence
At your consultation, you will meet with our patient care team to review your medical history as well as your goals for surgery. You will then meet with your surgeon to discuss the details of the procedure, recovery and expectations as well as create a surgical plan to restore natural, youthful results. Our office staff will provide you with a surgical quote and assist in scheduling a surgery date.
You will have a pre-operative appointment three weeks prior to surgery. At this appointment, you will sign surgical consents, discuss any last minute questions and concerns, get your pre surgery goodie bag and get further pre- and post-surgery instructions. Photos will be taken at this appointment.
You will arrive at our accredited surgery center about an hour before the procedure begins. You will meet with our incredible surgical team that will get you comfortable in preparation for your upcoming procedure. Depending on what is done in surgery, the procedure can take 1-6 hours. You will recover in our post surgical recovery room until your caregiver arrives to pick you up.
After surgery, you may notice some bruising, swelling and inflammation. Make sure you are walking frequently, drinking lots of fluids and getting lots of protein to aid in a smooth recovery.
Bruising and swelling will start within 1-3 days. Make sure to take your Bromelain and Arnica to minimize the effects of bruising and swelling. You may feel tightness, tingling, and numbness that should start to subside over the next couple of weeks. Strenuous activity should be avoided for the first 2-8 weeks. It is important to stay hydrated and get plenty of rest to aid in healing.
Breast Tissue Reinforcement surgery often addresses complications such as rippling, sagging or capsular contracture leading to more natural results that minimize discomfort. Final results can take up to 6 months as the breasts settle into their optimal position.

How long does tissue reinforcement last?
At Aesthetica Plastic Surgery, how long tissue reinforcement lasts depends on the type of material used and your individual surgical needs.
Some materials are designed to provide more of a permanent support, while others naturally absorb into the body over time, offering temporary reinforcement during healing.
Our surgeons will evaluate your anatomy, medical history, and goals to determine the best option for long-lasting, natural-looking results.
How do I know if I need tissue reinforcement?
At Aesthetica Plastic Surgery, the need for tissue reinforcement is determined on a case-by-case basis during your consultation.
You may benefit from tissue reinforcement if you have weakened or stretched tissue due to prior surgeries, significant weight loss, aging, or complications such as implant bottoming out or hernia recurrence.
Our skilled surgeons will thoroughly assess your anatomy, surgical goals, and medical history to determine whether reinforcement is necessary to support your results, improve healing, and reduce the risk of future complications.
What types of materials are used for tissue reinforcement?
At Aesthetica Plastic Surgery, our surgeons use both biologic and synthetic mesh materials for tissue reinforcement, depending on your individual needs and the goals of your procedure.
Biologic mesh is derived from natural human or animal tissue and is designed to integrate with your body over time, providing temporary support as your own tissue strengthens. Synthetic mesh is made from durable materials and offers long-term or permanent reinforcement, especially in cases where additional structural stability is needed.
During your consultation, our surgeons will recommend the most appropriate material to ensure safe, effective, and lasting results.
When is tissue reinforcement needed?
At Aesthetica Plastic Surgery, tissue reinforcement is typically recommended when the natural tissue lacks the strength or integrity to support surgical repairs or enhancements on its own.
This technique is often used in:
- Breast revision surgeries (e.g., implant malposition, bottoming out, or capsular contracture)
- Patients with thin or weakened tissue from prior surgeries or aging
Our experienced surgeons evaluate each patient individually to determine whether tissue reinforcement is necessary to enhance stability, support healing, and ensure long-term success of your procedure.
What are the benefits of breast tissue reinforcement during revision surgery?
Breast tissue reinforcement during revision surgery can provide additional support for the implants and surrounding tissue, helping improve long-term stability and contour. This technique is often used to strengthen weakened tissue, reduce implant movement, and enhance overall surgical results.
